best way for hard boiled eggs

I know you place them in cold water, before they start to boil.  Then what...how long?

Just looked it up in the Betty Crocker cookbook on Sunday.  I always forget, too.

  • I boil for 15 minutes (not too hard of boil or the shells will crack) and then put them in cold water and then again.  The cold water helps when you are ready to take off the shells so they don't stick to the egg white.
  • There are about a billion ways to hard boil an egg...  Stick out tongue

I put them in the pot, cover them with cold water and bring it to a rolling boil.  Then you boil them for 10 minutes and douse them in cold water (I actually put a cupful of ice in the chilled water).  They turn out perfect every time!
