So I have Friday off and decided to set anappointment for a massage at Identity Salon (big franchise salon in my city). Got my copy of WTEWYE and it says that it's best to go to someone who has prenatal training.
Being barely over 8 weeks, your thoughts on this being a non-negotiable? Anyone have a massage since BFP?
We have a Becoming Mom salon that is not that expensive but a half hour drive (ugh). A friend had said her salon does prenatal massages and I saw another one that did it too. I may try to call them but I am pretty much assuming that at this late notice I won't get my massage. Boo.

Re: massage?
I would call the salon and make sure it is okay for you to get the massage in your 1st trimester. I had a massage scheduled and they refused me since I was still in the first trimester - they said they only do massages/prenatal massages after the first trimester....even though my doctor said it was okay.
I think it just really depends on the salon. Some are okay with it, others aren't.
A lot of the salons I've been to have said they won't massage anyone who's still in their 1st Tri. That said, I think I remember Danilovespink getting one at 9 weeks and everything being okay.
Bottom line, call the salon and ask. HTH!
Ask your doctor...maybe you can have a facial instead of a massage if he/she says not until after the first tri?
I got my SIL a prenatal massage certificate at Born of Earth here in Westport CT for her bday, and she didn't use it until a month before her EDD...she really enjoyed it.
didn't realizy you were a Cincy girl too, until now! It should have clicked with the Bengals jerseys, but I am a little slow I guess!
Anyway, I go to Identity for my hair/nails/massages etc and they have maternity massages. I would call the salon and change your appointment to a prenatal massage. I go to the Beechmont location and I know they do them there so I am sure they do them at the Kenwood and Montgomery locations as well! It's called the Mother-to-be massage and it's the same price as a one hour swedish massage.
Thanks everyone- I didn't realize it was not suggested to have a massage until after 1st trimester, prenatal or not.
LOL- it's all good.
What part of town do you live in? I go to the Beechmont Identity as well for hair, etc, so you must be at least on my side of town! This is where my appointment is, so maybe I will call and ask them, then. Worse case scenario I will just forgo the massage and get my eyebrows waxed or something (although I'm not looking for something painful LOL).
