We were talking in the car today and DS was talking about his toys and how he wants new ones.  I told him we could give his toys away to another boy who would love to have them.  He said, "OK.  Let's give them away and then I can get new toys."  It's nice that he wants to be charitable, but he's only interested if he gets new stuff he wants.  He's 4 so I'm sure it's the norm right?  I'm typically not into buying things just because.  So get rid of some stuff and he gets something new, give stuff away and no new something, or don't do anything.  The only other problem is that his twin sister plays with his toys too so it would probably have to be agreed upon.  WDYT?

Can you have both kids go through toys and get rid of some? They will likely be getting some new stuff for Easter, right?

We can do that and you're right they're getting stuff for Easter, but it's not what he's asking for and there's a possiblity he'll be upset.  He's kind of being a brat, but that's what I expect at this age.  He bawled in the car for 10 min about it this morning.

Yeah, unfortunately, I think it's the age. DS has recently gotten then attitude that the world should revolve around him and that he is ENTITLED to getting new toys whenever he wants. It's really frustrating, so I understand what you mean. GL!

E&B say the same thng.  Not as often anymore since we dont' have money to buy new stuff like we used to (dh's doing nto mine)  I just constantly reiterate that we dont' have a lot of money, that's not how it works, this is how it is, it's better to do things like this, it's just the right thing to do, etc.
