I think I may have figured out my erratic BBT

At least partially.

It appears that breathing through my mouth while sleeping severely affects the temp. When I wake up with my mouth closed and temp, it's nearly a degree or more higher than it is when I wake up and my mouth is open.

I have miserable allergies and end up breathing through my mouth about half the time since my nose is stuffed.

I think I will have to start temping vaginally next cycle. Um, does anyone else temp that way? Tips?

I've never temped vaginally, but that sounds like a good solution. Does TCOYF offer an instructions for how to do it? If you don't have a copy I can check mine.

I do Embarrassed I had the same problem with breathing through my mouth - the copious amounts of drool on my pillows are indicative of that. Plus, the BBT beeping was waking my husband up every time and he was going to ban me from temping - this way it's muffled. Ha!

My only tip is wear loose pjs. And don't tell your DH b/c he'll probably think you're super weird. I've been temping that way for 6 months now and my DH is none the wiser.

Are your temps fairly similar to what they are orally? I usually temp half-asleep and sometimes the therm slips b/c I drift off before it beeps (it takes forever). I wonder if vag temps would be more accurate. Although maybe I don't want to do that half-asleep either....

Sona - Yes, this is all bordering on TMI, but uh, inch and a half or so?

mdm - Temps trend a bit higher, but the patterns are generally the same as oral. I think I switched pre-O one cycle and it didn't mess my chart up.

I temp vaginally because I think it makes my charts much more clear. I just shove it up there as far as I feel comfortable. And there is a big difference in my vaginal temps compared to my oral temps, but I think it is a lot more accurate. My DH thinks it insane though, and laughs everytime he hears me do it. (the muffling affect is nice though! lol)
