It's the Amniocentesis. Women elect to do it to find out if the baby is more likely to have genetic abnormalities or Down's. It's more conclusive than the NT scan.
If you have an NT scan at you screen positive, you can choose to do a CVS or Amnio. (CVS has to be done before 2nd tri) With a CVS you have between 1 and 100 and 1 in 200 change of miscarriage. With an Amnio you have between 1 in 200 and 1 in 400 chance of miscarriage. (Directly from my Prenatal Screening handbook from the hospital)
