Success after IF

but I don't WANT to do CIO for naps.. <pout>

DS won't go down for his AM nap - he has been up since 5:15am and he is beyond EXHAUSTED!  I just laid him down in the PNP in the playroom.  We did Ferber last night (re-ferbered) and I he did alright but he WON'T nap.

He has tried to turn over in his bouncey (bc he sleeps on his side).. so that was out.

I tried to rock him... just zoned out, no sleep

I laid him on the floor - he just laid there wouldn't stop looking around...

I put on Horton Hears a Who .. last resort.. still awake.

Now he is kicking up a storm in the PNP - but not crying...

Is this what I should be doing?

Re: but I don't WANT to do CIO for naps.. <pout>

  • I'm a wuss.. he is back in the bouncey.. should I put him in his crib and let him CIO (interval/Ferber)?
  • Loading the player...
  • would it be bad to just let him play and tire himself out? I have no experience with sleep training but wonder if you should just chalk this day as a bad nap day??? I've seen your posts stuggling with CIO and hope everything goes back to normal soon..hugs
  • thanks.. Horton and the bouncey finally did the trick.. I am prepared for a bad nap day (as you say...) it just stinks to see him so miserable.. I know he wants to sleep, he was laying on the floor playing and rubbing his eyes and whimpering...

I think we are on the upswing of the sleep troubles...

heck, my posts and redundant questions are starting to annoy me! :)

  • well..you certainly aren't annoying me and I'm pretty sure the rest of the board feels same....you are going through tough sleep issues and we are here to support you one way or the other...glad to hear things are on the upswing...when DD starts rubbing her eyes showing clear indication she is sleepy but still won't sleep...I take her into a dark quiet room..rock and sing to her...sometime that does the trick...other times she tries to wiggle herself out of my arms and I just hold her righ back and it works...sometimes it doesn't and I just give up...then a few minutes later she falls asleep...we do cosleep...so its an entire different ballgame...you are doing a great job mama!!!
  • I believe in CIO so that would be my advice.
