They are so dang expensive for the whole sets! And I am not fond of many of the girl ones. I find pink giraffes and purple elephants obnoxious, lol.
But style aside, they don't really use the comforter part anyway, right? Can't I just get some cute sheets and blankets for them to use later?

Re: Do you have/do you plan to get a crib bedding set?
I just got separates, mostly from Target. I did end up getting the comforter because it was cute, and only like $21.
Had to buy a crib skirt from PBK, because Target didn't have a matching one.
All the butterflies, pink, and purple crap makes me want to barf, too. We got gender neutral for obvious reasons.
I'm struggling with this as well. I wish they didn't come in sets! The bumpers are cute, but we probably won't use one. They can't use the comforter til much much later, and I'm not really sure that a crib needs a bedskirt.
I was thinking of using the quilt/comforter as a wall hanging in the beginning. I feel like the bumpers tend to have the cutest design of all the pieces, which is so frustrating!
Maybe sell the parts you won't use on eBay? I'm at a loss myself...
But just cus I'm excited about bedding, here are my current choices for boy and girl bedding:

Glad I'm not alone! I love the Eddie Bauer Enchanted Hollow set for a boy, and DH and I decided the animals were so easy to just draw that we would either paint them ourselves or cut the shapes out of felt to make some wall art that we could use much more than the expensive set.
For a girl, it will just be something soft and pretty.
We bought one, it is the HUGEST waste of money. All we used was the sheet and the crib skirt. Bumpers are to dangerous so we got a breathable one, and everything else is sitting in the closet never used.
With #2 we're going to get some cute sheets and a matching skirt and call it good!
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
Ditto. total waste.
I did get one. My sister tried to talk me out of it since you barely use any of it. But I insisted.
I used the solid colored sheet that it came with and the skirt. Otherwise, the bumpers are stuffed underneath the crib and the blanket is hanging uselessly on the side.
If you want to be more practical - get cute sheets (at least 2), a skirt and a breathable bumper. Cheaper - and its all you need.
I got tons of receiving blankets as gifts and didn't need to buy any. (Except - since I was team green, everything I got was neutral. So when B was born I bought a bunch of cute pink stuff!)
