My DD turned 3 last month. I tried for a couple of months before then with potty training and she told she would when she turned 3. And she kept to her word! She went on the potty, pee and poo, all the time. Then one Saturday while I was gone, she poo'd in the toilet and overflowed it with the amount of toilet paper she used. My DH was outside on the phone while this was happening (I wasn't too happy about this). When he went inside, water was leaking from the light fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom. DD was upset and crying. My DH told her it was fine and everything was ok.
But since then, she will not poo in the toilet. She'll either wait for nap time and do it in her diaper or just poo in her underwear. I'm very frustrated with this because I know she can do it. And I'm tired of throwing away underwear. We've set a new deadline of pooing in the toilet when the Easter Bunny comes but I don't know if she'll keep her word this time. I have prizes for her for when she does it, she's seen them. She really doesn't care. She'll tell me that she can have one when she poos. Of course she usually picks the time to poo'd in her pants when I'm nursing my 10 week old DD. She tries cleaning it herself but makes a bigger mess. I know I shouldn't get mad at her but I'm losing it a little everyday.
Should I start taking stuff away or just putting her back in diapers or what? Please help.
Thanks
Sara
Re: Potty Training Advice
Poor little girl!
At least she's still pooping, I've heard of kids giving themselves terrible constipation because of accidents like that.
I'd probably go with pull-ups. And huge bribes. My neice pted for a silver dollar.
