Birthing Plan?!

I am about 16 weeks and I have already overloaded my brain with books, videos, websites and magazines about pregnancy. I want some real honest information about labor and some advice that will help me decide how I want to approach it. Should I go natural?  Get an epidural? Also, I have a disorder that causes overactive scar tissue and I want to try to avoid a C-section as much as possible. Any suggestions would be great!!!!!

Re: Birthing Plan?!

  • Hello there. I am 16 weeks as well and I have made the decision to have a natural birth using the Bradley Method. Personally, I believe that will best for me and the baby and I have never been a fan of medicine or pharamaceuticals. However, you really need to do what you think is best for you. It is what you value most and it is different for every woman. I don't believe any certain way is the BEST way...I believe that you should decide what YOU think is best for you. Hope that helps! Congrats on your LO.

  • When I was pregnant with my first, I made all these plans on how I wanted to have my baby.... but sometimes it doesn't work out that way, so my advice would be to make a plan but make sure you plan for complications and changes and be willing to comprimise with the nurses.
  • Birth plans are a nice thought, but realistically they usually go out the window. Mine sure did due to lack of progress, emergency csection etc. I say just decide the big issues like epidural. But other than that just take it as you go and have your SO there to be your extra ears/eyes to support you as best as they can.
