Ideally one that can be worn on your back or at least has a good shoulder strap?

    Abbi New York brand is my favorite -- it's not a backpack but has a super cushy shoulder strap.  I've loaded mine down with all sorts of crap and lugged it to both Dublin and London as well as all over the US with no problems at all.

    As a bonus the prints are very girly and not your typical "boy bag black".
