RP from mult: please help ease my re-ferberizing worries

I know that I have had alot of Q's about this but I am a ball of worries right now.. my stomach is in knots dreading tonight because I don't have any idea what to expect.

(for those who don't know...)

We did the Ferber method with DS 2 weeks ago and he improved his sleep greatly!  THEN he got an ear infection...  The only way he could sleep was snuggled with me.. which he has been doing for the past 6 days.

He has been on Amoxicillin since Saturday and is feeling MUCH better (no motrin at all today and all smiles).. I think we are going to re-ferberize him tonight since it is spiraling out of control and not only impacting bedtime but also naps (which is a new problem).

So... any tips? was it harder or easier after illness? what are your stories?

THANKS!!!

  • For us it was sooooo much easier each time we have had to re-do. I personally restarted as if it was the beginning..with the shortest interval... But it never took too long. Good luck!!! :)

  • Like Yankee, re-Ferberizing was always super easy for us.  Like crying 2 minutes or even just fussing a bit.  It really felt to me like DS had learned a skill and that he had a much easier time falling asleep once he knew how to.  Good luck.
