Singleton, then twins ?

I have a graco snugride from our first DD.  I can't find the same pattern anywhere.  I'm not sure why, but it bugs me that the carseats aren't matching.  Did you get two new carseats?  Or carseat covers?

Re: Singleton, then twins ?

  • we kept the bases and gave the carseat to MIL so she would have 2 as well. we bought a new travel system with matching car seats. it was actually gifted to us thank goodness!! i honestly could not go with our stuff not matching...it may sound bad but i just could not deal with it lol

  • We were lucky and accidently got 2 snugrides with DS.  I had given one to my in-laws who took care of DS when I went back to work.  I did recently look on the Graco site and you can purchase new covers.  Maybe you could purchase 1 new snugride and then buy the matching cover for your carseat you already have.

  • We bought 2 additional car seats so they'd match but one doesn't work well (it's terrible to tighten) so we use mismatched.  I actually like having different patterns, William has DS1's old car seat and Jacob has the other, I don't know why but I like knowing who's where at a glance and not having to actually see the baby to know who's in which seat.
  • Maybe it's b/c I have b/g twins, but I don't care. We had a Chicco KeyFit from my older DS. Friends of ours lent us their Graco Snugride. They don't at all match and I don't at all care. I save my self a few hundred dollars there :).

If you can't find the same pattern, is there one that kind of coordinates? What about finding matching car seat cover things from an Etsy store. I know I've seen covers that can cover the old carseat pattern (I was considering this to make DS' more girly if we were just having 1 baby and she was a girl).

  • We bought two new car seats.

  • I wanted them to match, but I figured I wasn't going to buy 2 new infant seats just to make them match when I had lots of other things to buy that they would use longer.  I ended up finding a coordinating neutral and it is nice to tell who is who just by seeing the seat.

    Ditto.

We are using DS 1's old Snugride, and my SIL gave me a snugride she bought as a second seat for her youngest son, but he only used it for a month or so. I gladly put that extra money I'd have spent on 2 new seats towards diapers lol

Mine don't match AT ALL, but I don't care.  One is silver with purple and the other  is black with tan/gold.  I never really even think about it.

  • I feel the same way about matching, even though it sounds crazy.   They don't sell the same car seat that I had for DS1 so I went on craiglist and found one on there and bought it.  just an idea.

  • Ours didn't match at all. We felt that spending the money on making sure they matched was not a good way for us to spend our money.  Coincidentally we were required to buy a new carseat when our twins were born because the hospital didn't like the fit of the new snugride we bought. Figures!  But I figure they are only in the infant seats for so long that it wasn't worth the extra money.

Us too - DD had a snugride, and we got a safeseat from friends of ours.  Completely different, and I don't care.

  • DH's cousin has offered their infant seats from their girls. So if we get those we'll have matching. However, they live about 3 1/2 hours away... so if not, then we'll have one in DS's seat and the other in another cousins. The seats don't match but I'm not worried about it. Their convertibles will be matching because there's really only one pattern that I like with those right now LOL. It's more gender neutral tho.
  • I bought 2 new car seats. But then again...I wanted lighter ones then what I had the first time around as well.

  • Our car seats didn't match. We had a Graco from DD. But we couldn't fit 3 across with another Graco so we had to get the narrower Baby Trend.
