My poor little guy! I guess I should be happy that he's made it this far without a fever. We just got back from the pedi - no flu, no strep, no ear infection.
So, we just have to wait it out and see what happens. Even with Motrin it only went from 103.2 to 101.3. And I've heard that the fever is the worst in the early evening. ![]()
I asked about when would be the cut off for considering the hospital and she said 105! No way! Not after what happened to that woman on 12-24 a couple of months ago. I'm thinking that 104 and we're off to the hospital. I know that kids can get higher fevers, but I just don't feel comfortable with a fever that high!
Just put him down for a nap. Hopefully that will make him feel a bit better!
Re: My poor Jacob's first fever - 103.2! :(
oh no, i hope Jacob feels better soon.
DS had a 103.6 temp last month. I gave hime some motrin and a cool bath and it dropped to 101. By the next morning he was back to his old self.
hopefully Jacob will rebound quickly.
Oh poor baby! J had a fever of 104.2 last month at the pedi's office. It was viral as well, so there was nothing much they could do for her except giver her fever reducing meds. Her fever did not go down even after a fever reducing suppository at the pedi's office!! Theye then told me to give Mortin and Tylenol alternating. Also, If you want to help the fever come down a bit more, leave him only in a t shirt or onesie and use tepid water and washcloths and wrap his feet and put one on his forehead. We did this for her and it really helped draw down her fever when it was alarmingly high.
Hope he feels better soon.
We're dealing with exactly the same thing right now. It's definitely worse in early evening and we're getting NO sleep. This is day three. I'm exhausted and dreading tonight.
I was told to see a doctor right away when it reaches 40 C (104 F) under the arm. The instructions for my thermometer say to add a degree F when taken under the arm, so I guess also 105 F. I agree with you -- that seems scary high.
We got close to 104 last night...
Poor little Jacob! I hope he feels better and the fever breaks soon. And I'd totally be off to the hospital at 104. That would scare the beggezes out of me.
