Well, I didn't find out I was pg until 9 weeks. During that 9 weeks I had A LOT of liquor of all kinds. I decided once I found out to not have any more even though my OB said it was fine occasionally.
This is exactly my situation for LO #2. I didnt have a drop with DD.
my ob and CNM both said once i was in the 3rd tri a glass a week was fine.
i think it's slightly hilarious that anyone believes FAS comes from one glass of wine. if you don't drink, fine, but to raise an eyebrow b/c i had a couple of glasses is funny.
you know those french and italian women are just running around with messed up babies - lol.
eta: i also ate sushi in the 2nd and 3rd tri. dd does not have scales, so she's good.

Yes, I had half a glass on my birthday and totally freaked out about it and never had any more. I'm done having children but if I was having a second, I would go ahead and drink the wine. I actually believe an occassional glass of wine is beneficial towards the end of the pregnancy, but that's just me.

Nope. I'm not a big wine drinker so it really didn't cross my mind. But even if it would have, my OB was very firmly opposed to alcohol during pregnancy. Although I don't believe that one glass of wine causes FAS, having a glass here or there just wasn't worth it for me.

OMG... thank you!
Seriously, FAS is caused by much heavier consumption. I did have a glass on occasion, especially during the week I got married... I was already 16 weeks along. DD had a normal weight at birth and she's a little too smart for her britches!
And I also enjoyed sushi on occasion.... it's all about moderation & discretion.
Yes, I had a couple of half-glasses in 3rd tri... and then I had a big ole glass when I was in labor. My labor went *fast*, and I was at home taking a bath, eating a snack and drinking a glass of wine trying to calm myself and slow it the eff down. Didn't work! I was 8cm when I got to the birth center!
no. but i had a few sips of guiness every now and again. it was my only major pregnancy craving-how unfair is that? wine gives me heartburn un pregnant, the thought of it made me ill. i had a sip in italy, b/c, hello, ITALY, but that was a mouth swish thing.

No.
My OB said if I was at a wedding or some other special event and wanted to drink a glass of champagne or wine it was fine, though.
