I'm such a non-conformist when it comes to new technology or popular styles or brands of clothing. I'm not one to jump on the band-wagon. This is true with names for me also. (Some may have seen this in the post below) I refuse to go along with names like Delaney, Sloane, Liam, etc. There are more but those are the only ones on my mind right now. I am also not a fan of names that aren't phonetically spelled. How about you? Any names or naming styles you refuse to accept?

Re: Are there any names or name styles that you rebel against? (flame free)
There are names that I dislike and hate to see over and over again, sure. But the biggest thing that bothers me is names that don't flow well. I think meaning is very important too but I don't understand choosing a name you like without regards to how it's going to sound together.
And I'm kinda over the whole boys names for girls thing. And putting a Y in the middle of a name for no reason.

(First, Delaney is not trendy or even common right now...I read where you wrote this.)
I hate misspelled names, using boys names for girls, and feminine boys names. And I hate the new trendy names especially Harper.
I like classic names, even if they are common! I find that names can be very common in some areas and not in others so I will not let that sway me.
On my list of names you will most likely refuse to go along with a lot of them. Like i saw you dislike Harper and i love it. Thats just me. A couple things i rebel against are funky ridiculous spellings of names, and names that are too classic like Elaine or Claire. Just nms.
Names that sound trendy really bug me. Names like Madison, Harper, Peyton, Kennedy (or, God help me, Kennadie), Brielle, Destiny, Story, etc, just feel like they are only appropriate for a teenage girl.
This probably just comes from me being a history nut though. I like names that feel like they have been around for a hundred years or so.
I hate boy names on girls, anything spelled incorrectly, made up names, place names.
I tend to like trendy, preppy names for boys and old lady names for girls.
(disclaimer DH and I are 100% Italian ) and I hate overly Italian names like Dominic etc. Even though DH, FIL and Father are all named Joseph we will most likely do the same but do a totally off the wall MN.
I hate girls names like Crystal, Tiffany etc. They sound very WT.
Make a pregnancy ticker
I can't get into what I think are old lady names like Ruby, Violet, Ruth, Maeve, etc.
I've never been a fan of Isabelle and don't get the trend right now. I also can't stand Alexander or Alexandra or any of its variations.
For boys, I'm not big on the traditional names, like James, John, etc.
In general, while I don't want trendy names, I'd prefer to go with names that are uncommon but not too out there - that people wouldn't think "weird" but more along the lines of "that's under-used."

I guess I don't understand what you mean by "names like Delaney, Sloane, Liam". They are all such different styles. Liam is a nickname for William and has been around for ages. Sloane is a very old name and not very common or trendy. Delaney has been around for a while, but it's not that common or trendy either.
Anyway, I hate old lady names. Harriet, Edith, Betty, Matilda, Josephine, Lucille, Lillian, etc., etc.
Also really hate misspelled names. Especially Aiden.
This, I don't like these type of names, Bob, Joe, Tim, John... nms
Of anything I hate the most - I hate, hate, hate, hate the "misspelling" of names in an effort to be "unique".
A misspelled name does NOT make your child u-neek. Just makes it look like they came from dumb parents who don't know how to spell.

Personally I am not into common plain names whether it be trendy or not. I think they are wonderful if you like them but we probably wouldnt go that route. So most likely we would never pick Michael, John, Jane, Mary, Paul, William, etc.
As we have become closer to TTC I have realized that I am not as into unisex names as I thought I was, but who knows that may change again when we actually become pregnant.

I love you wifey, but remember, flame free. I know it's not super popular but when I say trendy, I mean "cutesy," and for lack of a better term, "fashionable."

I don't take one single minute for granted.
Boy names for girls, espescially names that are re-spelled with a Y to "girly it up"
City names for anyone
And blatant surnames (usually any name ending with son or starting with Mac or Mc)
and because my name was very popular while growing up, I try to stay away from names in the top 10. Yes, there is a chance DS will grow up with another Dillon/Dylan, but not 27 of them.

Sory you took it that way, but I wasn't flaming you! I was just telling you it's not trendy or even common. I think someone else said the same thing.
Of course what's been said about unique names, y's thrown in, etc...
but I also dislike when parents try to be cute with kids' names:
Easton Weston
Crystal Shanda (last name: Lear)
Jennah Tahlia
Candy Cane
etc.......
LOL, I love how this will always be added into our weird no names.
I don't like names where you have no idea if it's a boy or girl. I don't like names that you have to ask how to pronounce. I don't like apostrophes in names. I don't like really trendy names. I don't like when people name their kid something and you just feel pity for that child cause it's so horrible. Usually they're trying to be unique, but it just turns out bad. I don't really like surnames used as first names. I'm not a fan of place names, like Dallas or Dakota. Yeah, it's no wonder we haven't picked out a name for our baby yet. I'm so darn picky.
Jennah Tahlia?!?! Thats horrid. If my parents named me that i would change my name as soon as i could. Poor thing.
Totally! They look horrid! Kaylee, Kylie, Kayden, Kaydence, Kayla, YUCK!
The names Madison and Madelyn just bother the heck out of me. And Caden too...gives me the shivers. Blech.
1. Boy names for girls (especially names like Jameson and Michael and Tristan that are VERY masculine)
2. Uneek spellings
3. Kaylee, Kylee, Kayla, Kyla, Keely, etc etc etc. You get the picture
.
4. I am getting sick of the -Adens (Aidan, Jaden, Caden, Hayden, etc)
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

This!!!!
Misspelled names, especially with excess Y's or IE where a Y should be, etc. Boy names for girls, trendy names (I won't pick a trendy name, even if I like it, like Olivia or Isabella which are both beautiful), names that sound too last-namey (Harper, Emerson, Mac-whatever, etc).
Love: old-fashioned names that are underused, names of different ethnicity (but must be from my own roots, like Dutch or British or German), nature names (but I don't think I have the balls to pull them off).
I don't like what I consider to be "country" names: Wyatt, Wayne, Dakota, Cheyenne, Daisy-May, Billy-Ray. I just don't identify with the country lifestyle at all so those types of names bother me.
I have also disliked Ys in names since the 80's when my aunt did it to her daughters. I'd also like to avoid i which could be dotted with hearts, anything to cute-sy.
And if a name I love becomes too popular, I probably wouldn't use it.
This, x 100.
