do you wake them up or let them sleep and just be late? DS is still napping (longer than I expected, yea!) and we are meeting friends...I HATE to wake him when I work so hard to get him to sleep but I hate to be late too. :::sigh:::
Will your friends be waiting for you? I'd be really annoyed if I had plans with someone and they came 30-60 minutes late and we were just waiting for them. If they won't really notice that you're late (like a casual play date or just hanging out) then I'd call them and tell them you're going to be late because he's still asleep.

We don't wake sleeping babies in this house. The only exception to this rule is if it's getting late and him continuing to sleep will impact his bedtime.
If I'm meeting friends out somewhere and they'd be suck waiting for me, I'd wake her up. Especially if they also have kids whose nap schedules need to be taken into account.
If I'm just going over to a friend's house to hang out, I'd let her sleep.
DD does pretty well with being woken up, though. If it made the rest of the day hellish, I probably would be a lot more hesitant!
Re: if your child is napping and you have to go somewhere
If I had to be somewhere I'd wake him.

if it was like a doctor's apt- DD gets woken up-
friends would have to wait- in my opinion.
It depends on what we had to do and the age of my child(ren).
With DD#1, she NEEDED to nap otherwise she was EXTREMELY fussy.
With DD#2, after around 7 months old, I could wake her up from a nap to go somewhere. Same with DS. They are more easygoing in temperament though.
Call your friend and explain the situation. She'll understand. I always do. I know how important naps are for kids.
This. If I woke up my son early there is a chance he'd be cranky throughout the day which will make the whole thing less pleasant.
It depends on what we're going to be late for.
