My cleaning lady just told me in Spanish that I look like I am carrying a boy. This is when I told her I was pg and she said 'we kinda figured'.
I understand Spanish and I started laughing because if they were wrong on the early u/s I may have to return some girl stuff. Oops...
I really don't understand how ppl can tell. I am almost 18wks but I can't see how you can tell that early how someone is carrying. I do have a stomach and I am short/small gal.
Re: Someone just told me I look like I am having a boy...
My mother was convinced I was having a boy from day one, by how I was carrying. My cousin, who had a girl, was carrying totally differently - so my mother guessed correctly for her as well. The way I see it, she had a 50-50 chance of being right or wrong in both cases.
Then I had a coworker always saying I looked like I would be having a girl... I think it is all based on how they carried their pregnancies for the most part. You will get many more "oh there is no way you are having a girl/boy" moments through out the pregnancy. People totally go by what their pregnancies were like, but in truth all pregnancies are different.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Ha! Be careful. No more girl purchases until you are sure!!
(I say this as someone who was told that I looked like I was carrying a boy but who was told that I was having a girl at my 20 week u/s. Of course, when I went for a follow up at 22 weeks, they informed us we definitely had a boy. The tech should have said I'm just not sure, you're baby is moving too much! but instead she guessed and never told us it was a guess.)
thanks, krissy. This lady was really claiming she is always right when I told her I was having a girl. She said in Spanish that another girl she knows is having a boy but is carrying like a girl. Go figure, she is wrong twice...
I guess it doesn't help that she said that (doesn't make me mad, jsut makes me think...) when I was driving 10 min early and thinking that the baby might be a boy.
mouseygail - my big u/s is next week. I haven't had an u/s in 4wks since they told me that.
I know ppl have bigger stuff to worry/think about. This is minor. We will be happy with either gender!!!
Well, she is really my cleaning lady's assistant and she said it softly not thinking I heard her or could understand spanish. I said 'no I am having a girl'.
My friend's mom told her at 12wks that she was carrying a boy and because she had a psychic prediction. My friend believed her. Then when she found out she was having a girl she was shocked, her mom said 'oh, I thought you were getting wide'. Nice comment from your mom....
Ha! I plan to do the same thing when I get my next u/s (whenever that is)!
