Tell me what I'm doing wrong (PIP)...

Okie dokie. We are now in month two of trying to CD Fable, and DH is about to throw in the towel. We're using prefolds and covers, as you can see in the pic below. We do the bikini twist held together with a Snappie and a Thirsties cover. Everyone I know raves about this system, so I'm not sure why it's not working well for us. It seems that Fay pees through hers within the hour; I mean, the prefold is SOAKED through. We roll up the sides of the prefold to help prevent leaks, but it doesn't really matter. We could never even THINK about using them overnight; Fay wakes up after a 45 minute nap because she has soaked her prefold. So, is there something I can be doing to make this work better for us? We have other systems that work alright, but we don't want to drop all that money for AIOs or OS diapers. Any thoughts? TIA!

Is it time to move up a size? Have you tried to add a stay dry liner on top of the prefold during nap time? Or maybe adding an extra newborn prefold in there for extra absorbancy.

How did you prep them?  If you run water over them in the sink does it absorb pretty quickly or does it bead up?

Ours came with instructions to wash them a couple of times before using them. I think I washed them in hot water, but I can't remember. When I run water over one, some of it runs off but it DOES absorb, as well. Argh.

The place I bought them from calls them a "Stage 2," as in they're too big for newborns, but not quite big enough for an 8-mth old. It's supposed to fit her until she's 15 pounds. Also, googling that fold now.

It looks really narrow in the crotch. I agree that a larger size or different fold is a good starting point.

We use the angel wing or the jelly roll and some of the prefold is on DD leg and we usually tuck it in a little.  Sometimes her prefold are totally wet but I have never had them leak.  We also use a stay dry liner I cut out of micro fleece.

For our LO the bikini twist takes up way more of the diaper. We generally use the angel with PFs. When she had newborn poo we used the jellyroll fold.

I would also strip them until no water ran off. I would think they should be prepped just by using them for 2 months, but they should be more absorbant, so I would strip them.
