So I used my AFFF inserts and...

We leaked!  :(  I've never had leaks before, but I was wanting to get rid of all of my microfiber.  Since my mom was watching him I didn't get to evaluate the situation so I'm hoping it was just operator error. ;)

Re: So I used my AFFF inserts and...

  • Did you fully prep them? I know it usually takes me at least 8 washes to prep natural fibers completely.
  • Loading the player...
  • I washed them once because it said they came fully prepped...
  • With any hemp insert (because they are more thin and less "puffy" than MF), you'll want to make sure they lay flat inside the pocket (assuming you're using a pocket diaper), and span the entire width of the diaper between the legs.  If the insert (any insert) gets bunched up, the diaper can leak.

You also want to make sure that the thickness of the insert is distributed proportionate to the wetness.   If your child wets in front (most boys do this, as do tummy sleepers), you want to make sure there are more layers in that area.  Vice versa for a back sleeper.

    hth!

  • Thanks!  I don't think the way I had them stuffed they expanded the entire width.  My mom said she was holding him and it was like as soon as he peed she felt a warm spot expanding on her shirt! lol!  I feel like a goob.

  • yeah, it took me a few tries to get the hemp to spread out fully and cover the width of the diaper.  but once i got the hang of it, omg- to die for.
