Finding a daycare that will take CDs is not going well...

I have been calling around to recheck prices and ask about cloth diapering.  So far both larger centers in our town said no and the home daycare I called said no.  This is not going well :(

  • Check your state law. I just recently found out that daycares here are required to accept cloth dipes, unless they have a specific certification (can't remember the name), which apparently is rare.

  • They probably think you mean prefold style cloth diapers.  I would go visit in person and take your CDs with you to show them.  They might change their tune if they realize it's not any more work than disposables.

  • I called our DCFS licensing center and asked.  They said they are listed as acceptable, but it is up to the center whether or not they want to deal with it.  One place said absolutely not because they don't want to keep soiled cloth diapers around (ugh), and the other place said she just didn't want the hassle.  I will keep looking!

Yes--you MUST show them in person. I would not even ask by phone. I would not mention it until you are in person and then bring one with you to show them. Here in NYC I got three different daycares to agree once they saw the diaper. They are imagining prefolds nad probably think you want them to wash!!!

Also here's the link to check for your state what the regulations are.

^^This.  I didn't ask until I was there in person.  Was successful at both daycares we've used.

  • If you give them a doctors note they have to allow you.

I think that this is rediculous for them not to allow CDs.  What is the difference between putting a dirty sposie in a garbage bag to be thrown in the trash vs. putting a dirty CD in a bag for parents to take home?  C'mon, people, get real!!!

  • I also agree with Biker.  Go visit in person, take in an AIO or pocket and show them and then ask.  I used that method and never had anyone say no to me.
