NUK Bottles

Does anyone use them?

All the reviews I've read say there the best bottles ever, reasonabley priced, dont leak, easy to clean, ect.

We tried them when B was teeny tiny and she did fine on them..but we pretty much just used the Avent bottles or the medela ones that came with my breast pump. The we bought bigger ones for daycare, the evenflo Purely Comfi, but they break really easily and you really have to make sure the cap and nipple are super tight or they will leak. After breaking 3 of these, I bought an 11 oz NUK bottle to try again. Dear Lord...she took 45 minutes to drink her bottle and I kept having to pull it out her mouth to let the air vent...she would drink for about 30 seconds and then it was like the nipple would get stopped up. I made sure I had the nipple positioned right, with the airvent under her nose. Has anyone else had this problem?

I think I'm gonna try the new MAM bottles next. She loves the Mam pacifiers. Any one use those?

  • I had a hard time getting DD to take the Nuk bottles. I loved how they didn't leak, were easy to clean and the price was great. I ended up switching her to Avent and we are sticking with them. I had the same problem with the nipple collapsing and it taking FOREVER for her to take a bottle. I may start right off with those for our next baby...I just don't know.

We have used the NUK bottles since birth when we do give her a bottle and it worked fine until recently.  I think she is sucking really hard and the flow is getting messed up.  We may have to switch to a stronger flow nipple, but i'm holding off on that because i BF.  She hasn't had any issues with gas or spitting up and they are extremely easy to clean.  She does seem to get a little irritated when she's feeding from the bottle now, but better from the bottle than from me.

I tried the level 2 nipple also, and the same thing happened.

  • We use them with level 1 nipples and have no problems. He gets his 1 bottle at night, and is EBF the rest of the time. I will keep him on the slow flow nipple until we are done bfing, I really see no reason to change since he's satisfied and his latch is totally wonderful with them.
