Sofka where have you been all my life?!

I was just reading your reply to BH and we are having similar issues that y'all had with dairy. I can consume it and he has no problems. We were giving yogurt with no problems for about 2 weeks and then all of a sudden hives. He's only gotten them on his face and it appears to be only when it touches his skin. I've been trying to figure out if our situation was totally unique so I was glad to see that we are freaks. We may have to try the hemp milk? Is it fattening? LO is underweight and not being able to give him dairy is making it harder to pack on the pounds. I may be picking your brain some more in the future. I'm so glad to see that your LO is able to tolerate dairy now, it gives me hope.

  • I personally did not look into hemp, but my friend says it's the closest to milk in terms of fat/protein/etc content.

Does your DS like baby yogurt? It's got pretty good fat content and really tends to fill up DD. (Or it did, she has refused to eat it for the last few weeks and I stopped buying it; it's not cheap and I am not wasting it!).

what about cheeses? DD will eat mozarella (Wegman's has it organic) but it's not full-fat (the only kind they have).

  • The yogurt is what gave him the hives so we're off that for a while.  I'm just glad to know that we can try it again in a month or two and he may be ok. We have so much in our fridge that I've taken to eating it so it won't go to waste. Full fat yogurt is yummy. hehe. I may have to check out the hemp milk.

  • you could try Greek yogurt, it has a lot less ingredients than baby yogurt but waiting another 2 mos won't hurt
  • Sorry to butt in, but just thought I'd add a comment about yogurt. My kids don't have allergies, but we just buy plain full-fat yogurt (not baby yogurt). The only ingredient is "cultured grade A milk." I mix it with unsweetened applesauce or pureed fruit to give in a better flavor. Both of my kids love it and there's no added sugar or anything, other than what naturally occurs in the fruit that I add. Not every grocery store carries it, but Giant and Wegman's by us usually have it. Bloom never does.

  • Please, butt right in! Thanks for the suggestion, but sadly we've tried the plain full fat. That's what we orginally saw the hives with, then we switched back to Yo Baby and that gave him hives too. We seriously have so.much.yogurt in our house right now. I hoping he'll grow out of it soon.
