Contractions/Pressure Question

So today I have been feeling the contractions but they don't hurt. It just feels like a lot of pressure. I have had one child already but those contractions felt like really bad period cramps. I was in labor for 2 hours and 45 minutes. My questions is, do all contractions hurt or just feel like a lot of pressure?  Is the pressure considered a contraction? I will be 37 weeks tomorrow. Not that I am trying to push labor now, but I think time will be soon. I go to the dr tomorrow if nothing happens tomorrow.Any info on the pressure would be great?

Oh and when I went to the dr last week they said I was 50% effaced and 1 1/2 cm dilated. I went from a really thick cervix to 50% effaced in one week.

You might be having a baby soon!  I bet you since it isn't really hurting, it is just baby moving down and into a better position. Good luck!!!

Sounds like Braxton Hicks maybe?  When I had contrax when I went into labor, the early ones felt like pressure and like my belly was really heavy and just uncomfortable.  So you could be just having some early contractions!

I was the same way at 37 weeks.  I was breathing through contractions at my desk at work every day.  And at 39 weeks I was still at 1.5 cm and 50% effaced.  It could mean something, it could mean nothing.  Its normal to get contractions and pressure the last few weeks, but unfortunately it doesn't always mean you'll go into labor soon.

So I guess the doctor wasn't willing to induce you at 36 weeks?  No problems with the high blood pressure or anything?

Oh I never asked. It was just a question like I had said before. Blood pressure has been high. It has gotten as high as 153/101. They told me if it gets that high again then I need to call and go in. I only have 3 days left of work before I go on maternity leave/permanently quit my job. At 35 weeks and the day of my birthday I was having contractions quite frequently. They did stop the next day. The dr had told me that day that baby would be fine if I delivered that day. Quite anxious to see if I have progressed any at all tomorrow.

Sounds like BH contractions to me.  Hang in there!
