just curious to those of you who swaddle, or use the swaddle me by halo..... how long did yo swaddle them at night for? my mom keeps telling me I can't for much longer, but i think that's from an old school philosophy. TIA
I am wondering the same thing. The book I talked about in my other post said that babies should learn to find a sleeping position that is comfortable for them, and they can't/won't when restricted by a swaddle.
We are still using Swaddle Mes. I am thinking that we might keep it up until 3 months? I am curious to see others' responses.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
We weaned from swaddling at 6m; before that if they broke out of their swaddle during the night they'd scream till we came and reswaddled them. We started with the SwaddleMes, then moved to Miracle Blankets.
we stopped when they started rolling... i think around 6-7mos. from about 4 or 5mos on we swaddled with one, or both arms out. my kids never cried if they got loose from a swaddle, which was often. i did feel better (safety wise) when we switched over to sleep sacks.
We swaddled them until they were 6 months and 7 months. At 6 months we tried to move to sleep sacks and Nathan did fine, but Joey needed more time. They slept awesome swaddled. They were STTN by 4 months.
I had read somewhere that they lose their startle reflex at 3 months or so and that is the main reason that they wake up when they're young and not swaddled. So we'll probably stop then and see how it goes.

Does swaddling interfere with learning to roll over? Is this a stupid question?
Nope. They have plenty of time to practice rolling when awake. We swaddled for nighttime and naps and my boys both started rolling over (tummy to back) at 4m. Will started rolling back to tummy a few days later and Alex at 6m. (They never rolled over in their swaddles though, so that wasn't a safety concern.)
I was just thinking today that we might make the switch to sleep sacks. Our girls always get out of the swaddle and they don't seem to mind having their arms out, so it seems safer to switch.
We swaddled until Sofia was 7 months and Ava was 7.5 months old. Basically I stopped when they started flipping over. It was a rough couple of nights without it, they would not break free. But once they got over not have them they were fine. Now they are in sleep sacks. But their arms and legs are free.
My first LO was swaddled until he broke his arms out himself at about 3 months. My Halo swaddle package says to stop swaddling when they show signs of rolling over, breaking loose, or not wanting it. So keep swaddling away! I plan to keep swaddling my now 5 week old until he can roll. He sleeps so well in his Halo sleepsack swaddle. And then we'll switch him to a regular Halo sleepsack like we did with his big brother.
