Are you still doing this? I wondered how it was going.
Also, where did you get your DVD's from and what equipment did you purchase to go with it? I am really considering doing this, but I need to work out all of the upfront costs before I start anything. Oh, and do you have to get a pull up bar? Is there another option to those exercises? I'm not kidding myself, there is no way in hell that I'll be able to do a pull up anytime soon.
Re: MelandJeff - P90X
Hi!
I am still doing it.. I have missed only 1 unscheduled rest day, I am so excited about that because the workouts are brutal and I have had to talk myself into workout out each day and it gets more and more difficult, lol!
I am on a p90x message board on Sparkspeople too. It helps stay motivated.
I start week 7 tomorrow. I have lost about 11 pounds. Probably more but I didnt start weighing myself until 1.5 weeks into it.
What I bought:
Pull up bar, resistance bands, yoga mat, and 5 lb weights. I dont do pull ups either, and in the videos they have modifications for pull ups. I follow the modification for pull ups--- I wrap my band around the pull up bar. Also, they have bands that attach to the door so you dont even need a pull up bar.
I borrowed the p90x videos from a friend and burned them, so it didnt cost me anything.
Thanks! I just found the DVD set, including all the guides and what not for $68, so I'm really excited about that. I also already have some bands and a yoga mat and dumbells (not that I'm currently using them) so it seems like maybe I'll be able to get this started for a minimal investment.
Are you also keeping track of your measurements? I've found that when I lost weight in the past, the scale didn't move that much because I was also building muscle, but the tape measure doesn't lie
Kelly Monaghan's 5K - 5/15/11 - 3rd Place in AG
Walk the Talk 5K - 5/18/11 - 31:12 PR
Ridley Run 3.1 - 4/14/12 - 1st race of the year, 32:45
No, I havent tracked my measurements, I always think about it, then I forget.
They also almost ALL say (those doing p90x) that they didnt really see the major results until phase 2 or phase 3. I tend to agree with this, while my weight loss hasnt been drastic (1.5 pounds per week average) I have noticed a huge change in my stamina, and strength. My body has changed too. MH says he notices mostly in my booty, I notice most in my waist and my thighs.
Once I finish p90x I am going to try Insanity.
Oh, and i am in the middle of phase 2...
