My external hard drive crashed and I lost a lot of pictures. Stuff I'd said I'd come back and edit later. Moments that I'm just sick that I lost. And it all happens on my baby's first birthday...SUCKS big time.
So back up your pictures in more than one place. They should be at the very least on your computer and an external drive - preferably on two different drives and/or DVDs. That's all I'm going to say before I go run off to bed and cry some more now ![]()
Re: PSA: Back up your pictures in multiple places
Oh Libby, I'm so, so sorry!! How awful.
On a happier note, happy happy first birthday to Will!! A whole year! What a big boy.
Oh no, I'm so sorry!
Happy birthday Will! I hope the rest of the day is better
Thank you guys
We really have had a great day and we've got plans for a fantastic evening too.
I'm about to head out to see if spending crazy amounts of money can recover some of the stuff I lost. Thankfully, my mom has a bunch of pictures I gave her...totally not the same, but thankfully I at least have something!
That is terrible!
But...Happy Birthday Will!!!!
I know the feeling. Its terrible.
A little over a year ago our desktop crashed and we lost 5+ years worth of pictures (family births, our first home, wedding candids, etc), then last year our Mac died and we haven't had the money to spend to recover those photos (our pregnancy, Camy's birth and 1st 6 wks).
I hope you can get them recovered.
And Happy Happy Birthday, Will! Such a big boy, already! Wow!
The O'Baby Blog
Married and it feels so good!
Thank you so much! I may be going there tomorrow. I'm running a recovery software right now and it's recovered a bunch of files...we'll see if it's anything that I'm missing or not.
I am sorry that happened. That happened to me once...I lost pics of my best friend's wedding when my laptop crashed some years back now. I am very sad I lost them.
But, happy birthday to Will!!!!
I'm sorry. That stinks!
From a post I did a few months ago...
Disclaimer: I haven't used any of these places but they were recommended on a list I am on. It will be very expensive ($1000-$4000 probably), but here are some places to try:
Drivesavers
Ontrack
Flashback Data (they are local)
Heroic Efforts (they are local and say they charge around $500)
1) Happy Birthday W!
2) at least they were client images
good luck with a recovery place!
if you're a member of professional photographers of america, they are a big help with discounts. contact them first
happy birthday will!
Libbyann, I highly recommend Heroic Efforts. My Desktop crashed a few months ago and I had just gotten off my butt to get an external hard drive but hadnt backed up most of my pics yet. I was told by so many people that I would not be able to recover anything and it would cost up to $2,000 to try and do it and Heroic Efforts was able to do it for $433. They are amazing!
Good luck to you! I am now backing up all my pictures in 4 different places!
