Angelcare Monitors

If you used them, are they worth the money?  Did they work well as regular sound monitors as well?  Which specific kind did you get?

Re: Angelcare Monitors

  • we have them for all 3 boys and LOVE them- give us such peace of mind so we can sleep at night without checking them 100x's to make sure they are breathing.  We still use it on Griffin who is 3 y/o - b/c we'll know if he gets out of his bed this way - and it's nice still if he sleeps in or naps longer than normal- i don't have to check on him and worry something is wrong.

worth EVERY PENNY to us.  We have 2 of the older type units and one of the new ones (that does the temp).  The older units have 2 different channels so you can use 2 of those- or one of those + a new one.

yes- they do sound, too - and you can turn off the motion sensor so it's only for sound if you want.

  • We have them for the girls and are getting one for the new baby.  Love them.  We also have a video monitor too that we use.  I think the AngelCare's are worth every penny.  They give me peace of mind.

  • They gave us so much peace of mind when we first brought the girls home from the hospital. Now we are talking about getting rid of them because our girls are constantly rolling to the ends of their cribs and the alarms go off a lot and wake everyone up. We are definitely glad we had them for the first 10 months though!

And after reading Goldie's post I'm thinking it is a good idea that it would go off if a toddler got out of their bed..hmmmm

  • Well worth the money IMO.  We only used the sensor part for a few months because we ended up eleavating the mattress for reflux and it wouldn't have worked.  Now just use the sound part.  My daughter used to have apnea episodes in the hospital.  Even though she was 7 days free of episodes before coming home and didn't have a monitor, it gave me a peace of mind.  Very few false alarms for us.
  • we have gray's mattress elevated and it still works- you just have to put a plywood board under the mattress (this is recommended even if not elevated to help reduce false alarms).

yeah- it's great for toddlers :)

Griffin actually won't ever get out of his bed b/c he hates when the alarm goes off- and he knows it will go off if he gets out - so it works out really well :)

  • Thanks for the replies!  We just bought a couple this afternoon.  I think we're going to put the babies in their cribs right away, and I think these will help me sleep away from them.  We have a mini cosleeper and were thinking of getting a second one, but cribs right away just sounds better to us right now.  We'll see how that all works out!
