Twin Girl Names

We were thinking of naming our twin girls Lila (Lie-la) and Lily. Do you think these names are too close? I am a twin and we're named Jackie and Julie and this didn't bother me growing up. Any other names that may go with either? Just not Sophia, it's my cousin's name. Also no Ava's, my sister wants to name her child that. Thanks!

  • I think Lila and Lily are cute together.

  • Both are beautiful names but they are kind of a tongue twister when you say them together.

My MIL has two dogs named Lily and Emma and although the dogs are brats, I've always thought those names go really well together!

  • I think they're too close, but I'm not one for matchy sounding names. GL!

  • Too close. Too cutesy.

  • I do not like twin names that close, but you grew up with it so would know better than me...
  • I love your pic btw.  I think they are a little too close, and agree it's kind of a tounge twister.  How about Lila and Lucy, Lana, Leah, Lucia, Larissa, Lacey, Lindsay, ....

  • I love both names.  I have a Lilah and the other two names I considered were Leah & Lilly, but I think these names paired with Lila are to similar.

    This.

Both beautiful names, but I think it's too matchy matchy for twins.  I don't mind the names starting with the same letter, but there's very little difference between Lila & Lily.

How about Lucy?  I love that name.

  • Too matchy matchy. I love Lily though! My vote is to keep Lily and find another name. I like the suggestion of Emma!

Keep one of them, and find another name.  How about Lila and Lucy, Lily and Leah, Lila and Lauren? (if you do want them to have the same letter.)

  • too close in my opinion.

I LOVE Lila, Lily is a bit too common.

If it were me, I'd go with...

    Lila & Lucy

    Lila & Lucia

    Lila & Lara

  • Good god yes, they're way too close! They're only one letter off. Not appropriate for siblings, never mind twins.
  • And I also meant to say, Jackie and Julie start with the same letter, but they're nowhere near as close as Lila and Lily. It would be like having a Julie and Julia.

  • I would not use those names for siblings.

  • I agree with what many people said. They're both cute names but in my opinion they're too similar.

  • What about switching to Layla and Lilly.... same kind of thing but they sound a little more different than the first two.   Another cute combo that is different than your for twin girls is... Maddie & Molly   :-)

  • Definitely too similar-it's not that they are 'matchy', it's that they have almost the same letters, so they are almost the same name.

I would pick one of those to use and then pick another name for the other twin.

I agree. I think it's kind of nice to give twins a bit of a way to distinguish themselves.

Some other names you may like:  Eliza, Violet, Isabel, Ivy...

  • Lila and Lily are too close. What about having Lila and Lucy or something else, so they match, but aren't identical? Jackie and Julie are far away from one another, but just have the same first letter.

  • I think its a tongue twister, too many L sounds imo.
