Baby Showers

Thoughts on this for shower activity?

I'm co-hosing my sister's shower in a couple of weeks. She's not into games - but I do want to do some sort of activity....she said that's fine.

Her theme is rock-a-bye baby (rock n roll theme)

I was thinking about putting people in groups of 2-3 and each team can decorate a rock-themed scrapbook page and then we'll put them all together and my sis can have a little scrapbook she can just put the baby's pictures on.

OR Have people put pages together, but instead of making room for baby pics, it's a little book of advice?

I thought my sister could her favorite page and that team wins a little gift.

Thoughts?

  • I'd make it individual and I'd think about sending it to people before the shower. Doing group work at a shower sounds like torture to me. I also wouldn't have her pick her favorite. That's a bit mean to the other people.

  • Ahhh - good call on maybe not having a favorite. No need to make anyone feel bad.

  • I like the advice idea.  The last shower I hosted I cut cute scrapbook paper where it would fit in a 4X6 album and left them on a table with a note that said "Please leave your best wishes and best advice for the new parents" Everyone filled them out, put them in the album, and there was plenty of room left in the album for shower pics.  Made a nice keepsake.

A quick, fun game even for non-game lovers would be to give guests one minute to list as many song titles as they can that contain "baby".  Kinda goes with the theme.

At a shower I went to, the host had pre-cut baby shapes (carriage, rocking horse, rattle, etc) where we wrote advice/wishes for the parents.

Other non-game activities include decorating onesies or bibs with pre-made iron-ons or fabric paint.

love the rock-a-bye baby theme.  You can also list as many lullabies in a certain amount of time.

ITA.  In addition, if it was a keepsake of some sort, I'd want the time to making it really special. I would enjoy doing it on my own time w/ out the pressure of having to come up with something on the spot.

I think that it is really bad idea to have her pick a favorite.  There doesn't need to be a winner.

  • I went to a shower where everyone wrote down a piece of advice for the future parents. (They had little leaf cutouts in different fall colors for people to write on.) The leaves were collected and they would randomly draw one, read the advice, and that person would win a prize. They LATER made it into a scrapbook.
