Wahh! I haven't even gotten to the sad part yet. Its just when they have the baby and bring it home and introduce the dog to him... ah, hormones. They're the best.
Ugh. I went to see that movie alone when I was pg and the part where she lost the baby had me sobbing and then when the dog died I was like blubbering. I looked like a fool in the theater sitting there by myself sobbing.
My mother has a dog so much like Marley, that she didn't want to finish the book. She just stopped reading at some point when she realized he was getting old!
I was actually forbidden from reading that book in bed because I was laughing out loud at the funny parts and sobbing at the sad parts. I mean blubbering-choking-full-on-sobbing. And I wasn't even PG!
DH watched the movie one day when he was home by himself, and called me crying! He said he went upstairs, called both our dogs into bed with him, and just cuddled them for a good hour!
Love that movie!! We were a mess after watching it and ready to see it again. Best of times...hardest of times (not worst). If you were a mess at that part of the movie how were at the end?
Oh man. I have read the book and saw the movie. I saw that movie right after my family dog (an old yellow lab of course) had to be put down because of kidney failure. DH and I cried like babies! I was a complete mess and didn't even care that I kept wiping my snotty nose on my sleeve.
Okay, talk about bad - I watched that movie on an airplane. I thought I was making a ridiculous fool of myself crying (like, shaking crying) and then I realized that almost everyone on the plane was bawling too. That was probably not a good choice for American Airlines.

Just like the soundtrack for Titanic was a bad choice for dinner music on our cruise.

Don't get me started. I seem to get the most emotional when she has the miscarriage and at the end when they're burying him and Owen Wilson says "do you have anything to say to Marley" to his oldest son, and the little boy goes "he knows...he knows." Makes me tear up just typing about it.
It doesn't help that our dog looks exactly like the dog on the cover of that book.
Re: Marley and Me.
Just make sure you're in a good place emotionally. Oh, and buy a fresh box of Kleenex. You'll be fine.

I have seen DH cry twice.
One of the two was during Marley and Me.
I blubbered for a long time after that movie. I will not ever watch it again.
"The House We Built."
A journey of building the dream.
