Poll: Invite adult friends to 3yo bday party?

My husband and I are disagreeing about whether this is weird or not.  We have a few couple friends that either don't have kids or are pregnant with their first that we and DD spend a fair amount of time with--dinners out, etc.  One of us thinks it's great to invite them, the other thinks it's weird.  The party will be in our backyard, low key, on a saturday afternoon.

  • I was invited to kid's parties before I had kids. I usually went if I could.

  • I don't think it is the slightest bit strange.

  • Most of my friends that I've had for years don't have kids. I always tell them I'm having a party and they are welcome to come but not obligated. They usually do come.

  • In my circle, it's pretty standard for all of us friends to hang out and let the kids run around.  Especially since it's an outdoors party.  If it was inside, I think I would for sure stay around to help corral kids ;)
  • We have one set of friends that don't have kids and may never (she had cancer) and we always invite them to our kids parties when they are at our house.  The one exception was when I had my dd's party at a jumpy place - I didn't think they would have enjoyed that and I would have felt like I was fishing for presents.
  • I think that whether or not you & your LO are close with these adults should be the deciding factor...not if they have kids.

Personally, I would invite them.  My best friend has been coming to our kids' bday parties for the last 14 years.  She just had her first child 3 years ago.  She loved being a part of our kids' special day.

  • I have a couple friends that are still single and we always invite them...and they always come.  My kids love both and are very excited to have them here for the party.
