BFing ?, may be TMI

DD#2 is 8 weeks now and I am still dealing with leakage...I always have to wear a nursing pad...I never really wore nursing pads with DD#1 and don't remember it being an issue past the first few weeks...I'm just curious--what are others' experiences?

Re: BFing ?, may be TMI

  • I didn't have to after the first few weeks but I've heard of plenty of women needing to use them the entire time they BF.

  • My DD is 4 and a half months old and I still wear them. I probably could stop, but if I get stuck in a meeting and can't pump at my normal time, I start to leak some.
  • I leaked until two weeks after I stopped bf'ing (due to drying up, not by choice).  A month later I could still get milk by squeezing.  My birth coach teacher always leaks the entire time she bfs (three kids, post-year feeding).  So I think it's perfectly normal, if really annoying.
  • I was a heavy leaker for about 8 weeks and then my body regulated itself some.  But if I missed my pumping/feeding time thought about my baby, got emotional, looked at my breasts, I was guaranteed to leak then as well.  I wore pads for the 1st 10 months because of this.
  • I think I could get away with not wearing them all the time now (just at night sometimes) but I am too worried an embarassing situation would present itself!

This!  I think I leaked off and on all day until DD was about 3 months old (also about when I went back to work) - I think it was proximity to the baby that did it.

  • I don't remember when I stopped but I know I wore pads for a long time after I went to work. Just to avoid embarassing situations. I didn't leak much after the 1st few months but still wore them. At some point I switched from disposables to washable ones.
  • Still wearing them.

  • I BFed for 6 months and I leaked the entire time.  What's more disturbing is that I could still get milk (colostrum?  something?) out even before I got PG again.  It kind of annoys me, b/c I stopped BFing due to low supply and DS losing weight...

  • I wore them the entire time I nursed/pumped.
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
  • I have to wear them the entire time I'm BFing.  Things have regulated themselves by now, so I don't worry about leaking unexpectedly.  But every time I feed DS, the letdown will cause some issues if I'm not using nursing pads.

  • I had to wear them the entire time I BF for about 9 months.  It did get to the point where I didn't leak extensively like I did at the beginning and had to change pads numerous times a day, but I usually had some sort of leakage at least once a day through weaning.
