My DH and I think we've finally agreed on a name but we don't want people to think she is a boy when they see her name. Do you like Blake or Blayke for a girl? Thanks for your opinion!
I'm sorry, but... if you don't want people to think your daughter is a boy from just seeing her name, why not give her a GIRL'S name?
Blake is a boy's name. People seeing it will think "boy", and rightly so. Spelling it "Blayke" will not make people think "oh, what a pretty name for a girl", it will make them think "gee, his parents can't spell".
Just my two cents.

You can't add random Ys to make a name more 'feminine." If you want a feminine name, please give her one because whether you spell it Blake or Blayke, it still sounds like BLAKE.
My first thought was Blake Lively the actress, which isnt a bad association. I know a girl I went to school with who named her daughter Blakelyn and they call her Blake
Don't listen to people who comment about it being a "boy's name"...who cares?! Blake Lively is hugely famous and everyone thinks she's drop-dead gorgeous, and nobody cares that she's got a "boy's name".
I would, however, stick with Blake over Blayke. The latter just seems like a misspelling of Blake; which I think will be a really cool name for a little girl!
My first thought was Blake Lively as well, and I'm not even sure who she is, lol. I guess I just don't associate it as a boy's name. I think it's a great name for a girl and it doesn't need to be made more feminine.
I know 3 girls named Blake. All spelled Blake. And they are all in thier ealry to mid 20's. Yeah its a guys name but its cute for a girl. If you like it then who cares what people say. You can name your child what you want. good luck!
I like the name Blakely, but I don't like the extra y spelling of Blake. Don't be afraid to give her a name with a male association, my name is conventionally used for a boy but I love it (now that I'm an adult) and I think men find it sexy for a feminine woman to have a slightly masculine name. Go with your gut.

This is SO close to what I was thinking! Here's what I had in mind:
If you don't want people to think she is a boy when they see her name, don't name give her a boy's name. Also, forget about the people who SEE the name for a second- and consider the people that will HEAR the name. How is adding a y going to help those poor unsuspecting fools?
It's a boy's name. People will think "boy" when they hear the name regardless. Blake is masculine and Blayke is terrible. Blakely would be a little better.

I don't take one single minute for granted.
I do like Blake for a girl. It's a name that's been on our list. I haven't really thought of which spelling I think is better. I'm inclined to say Blake.
I've known 2 Blake's, one female and one male. There is also Blake Lively, who I agree with pp is beautiful and makes the name work for her.

I am just laughing at this question in general. Are you really considering intentionally misspelling your child's name? As for Blake being a boy's name...it is, but it's not nearly as bad as Quinn.
Re: Girl name spelling help
Blake...
You must not lurk here...You are going to get torn apart. 1. for naming a girl Blake and 2. for spelling it uniquely
I for one, am pretty open to boys names for girls and don't mind it but do prefer the Blake spelling. Good luck!
Yes
Blayke. It is a unique way of spelling it which makes it different and yours

This. Blayke is awful. Almost looks like it should be blay-kee or something.
this.

Blake, definitely.

LMAO.
I like Blake for a girl a lot. I have a name that is more commonly given to boys and I've always loved it.
Spell it Blake. No need to change the spelling.
Blake.
The Y just looks silly an dmisplaced...
