Austin Babies

** joyco & amycory ** (re: dropping a nap)

I just read an article (in American Baby magazine) about napping.  It didn't say a lot about dropping from two naps to one, but one of the suggestions was to alternate the schedule: one day with one nap (and an earlier bedtime to compensate for less sleep), and the next day with two naps (and the "normal" bedtime).

Anyways, I don't know if this actually works but I just wanted to pass it along for you girls.

    Hold please.

    AHHHHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

    Ok, I think I'm good.

Now that the boys have dropped this nap (as of this whole week), they've gone to bed LATER than they normally do.  We try our hardest to get them in bed by their usual (pre-DST) bedtime, but that doesn't work.  They've been going to bed by 8:15p this whole week.  And then their first (and only) naps have been ~10:30a/11a.  Usually they've slept for an hour.  Then they're up from 12ish til they go to sleep at 8:15p.  And they still get up around 7am!!!  OMG!

American Baby needs to come study my children for an article on "How babies can go for hours and hours with no sleep".  I STG I'm going to lose it if this continues.

I'm going to attempt to bring back the second nap, do bottles as I've been doing and then when they're 1, I'm gonna cold turkey those b!tches.  I mean babies.

but, but, but....they're so damn cute!!!

  • the cuteness wears thin.

their cute little faces won't get me through the whining/day, unless...  hmm, maybe I can start sending out head shots of them and we can get auditions and model go-sees and then that could take up some time where *I* don't have to entertain them and yes, maybe this could work!  Good thinking, MMT!

Love me some Tyra Banks.  But not on her talk show, just ANTM.  Small doses.

  • Hmmm... interesting.

Not sleeping and whining all day must be the "cool" thing to do, because mine does what J's do.  He's been sticking to a 8:45-9 bedtime for a week now.  However, I'm not complaining about that too much 'cause he's been waking up a full 12 hours later.  I'm willing to try anything though, so tomorrow if he doesn't get a second (or first) nap, he's hitting the sack early.

But seriously the whining and "hold me, mama" crap has got to stop or I'm going to be consuming way too much wine every night.

Why don't you live closer to me?  You need to move closer.  We'd have a great time w/ our whiny babies and our wine.

Um....I think you are the one that needs to move closer.  All the cool kids live in North Austin, ya know.

Definitely. Tell your husband to build us a nice house for us down there, and I'll convince my DH.

What we need is a place in between where we could have GTGs so neither one of us would have to drive too far.  My kid usually behaves well for others when we're out and about, and your boys could probably teach him some things.

Wait, I change my answer to this.  I don't know if I can handle living in the stix.

  • BURN INDEED!

Damn, Amy, didn't think you had it in ya.

stix?!  Oh my (<- say like George Takei b/c it's freaking hilarious)

This is not the stix, it is a small German settlement in between 2 very large metropolisesses.  So there.

Ok, well y'all tell my husband to close up his office in SA and move it to Austin and we'll be set.

North Austin can bite me.  I'd be in South Austin if anywhere.  All you Northies are hoity toity.

    ;)

It's the wine.  And the whining, actually.

Hoity toity?!?  That hurts.  I'm a thinkin' you're just a teensy bit jealous ;)

Seriously though, when are you hosting that river gtg you've been talking about?

Uhh, when it's warm enough outside to combat the freezing-ass cold of the river.  :)  This summer perhaps?  That'll be fun!  We got season passes to Schlitterbahn so we're (read: I am) gonna take the boys as often as possible and get them used to the water and the cold.

I could possibly be a little tiny bit jealous.  But hey, at least I have a big yard and I didn't have to pay out the wazoo for it!
