Baby hates pacifiers

My baby hates pacifiers. I've tried different brands and each one she refuses. Anyone elses LO refuse a pacifier?

Re: Baby hates pacifiers

  • DS will only take a soothie pacifier and only when he wants it.

  • Lauren does not want a paci.  She gets excited when you first put it in her mouth but when she realizes she's not getting anything, she spits it out.

  • DD1 loathed them. Every single time we offered one, no matter what kind, she'd spit it out as soon as she realized what it was, and she'd give us the most horrible look.

Our pedi recommended helping her find her hands. She sucked on her hands/fingers for a few months and then gave it up on her own.

It was also a huge struggle to get her to take a bottle, and she was off them and onto sippies by six months. She just hated artificial nipples, I guess.

We've offered pacis to DD2 and she'll take them. :) But she seems to be kind of take-it-or-leave-it about them at this point.

  • DD will occasionally take a Soothie... maybe 5 or 6 times in her entire life and I've tried everyday since the hospital.

  • Mine only takes it rarely.

I never took one when I was little.

  • i think it depends on the shape of the paci's nipple.

  • My girl will NOT have any of that. Which I find hilarious because I was a three, yes three, pacifier kid. One in my mouth and one in each hand.
