anyone have it? i was diagnosed with it today by my ob....i have had 3 clogged ducts before but this hurts so much more, i woke up crying at 430a,:( how long before you felt better?

Are you on antibiotics?  When I got on antibiotics I started feeling better about 8 hrs later.

yes she put me on antibiotics:-) 8 hours...thats great, hopefully that will be the same for me!!

I had clogged ducts several times and mastitis once - I'm so so sorry you are going thru it, it's horrible and it hurts like hell! I did not take meds (I know they say they are safe when BFing but I didn't want to take the chance). You have to BF or pump around the clock, every 3 hrs or so, be sure to massage towards the nipple when pumping/BFing and eventually it'll get better. It took me close to a week (but might've been faster had I taken the meds).

I'm so sorry! For clogged ducts, the trick for me was submerging my boob for 10 minutes in a bowl of hot water (as hot as I could stand it) and then pumping/massaging immediately after. Nothing else worked very well for me but that did it every time. Good luck. I'm so sorry you're feeling bad.

I am so sorry!  I had it once with each babyand I remember haw painful it was.  I think it was about a day of antibiotics before I felt better.  Be sure to offer the breast most infected (if it isn't in both) first.  I also used a hot washcloth for about 5 minutes before I nursed.  It seemed to help.

So sorry!  Anti-biotics helped me within a day.  I had a really high fever too - ugh, it's just awful.  Feel better soon!

Antibiotics helped within a day for me too.  I had a high fever, so tylenol helped until I could get antibiotics, I got really bad the Saturday of the February snow storm.

thanks ladies...my fever is almost gone thanks to advil and the antibiotics have kicked in..it does not hurt nearly as much as yesterday. hopefully by tomorrow I'll be good to go, then I'll just have to remember to finish the meds.
