Bedrest. Anyone else have a lot of pelvic pressure?

I'm on home bedrest, 1cm dilated w/ funneling, short cervix (I wasn't told the measurement) & contractions. ?The part that scares me the most is all of the pelvic pressure I feel. ?It's especially scary to get up & go to the bathroom, I feel like she's pushing down so hard that I try to hold up the weight of my belly. ?

Anyone else have this kind of pressure? ?How long have you had it? ?I'm wondering how long I can keep her in. ?What's your Dr. say about it??

  • I'm going through the same thing. It is so painful and can get scary getting out of bed to go to the bathroom - I also feel like I have to like, hold on to my stomach while I'm walking. Sometimes right when I stand up I feel unsteady because of it too. This morning I told my doc but he didn't seem concerned - based on the reasons you are on bedrest and 27 weeks, if I were you I'd call the doc just to let him/her know what's going on.... If you are allowed in the bathtub, epsom salt baths have helped me. It's the only place I can get some relief!

  • Thanks. ?I have a Dr. appointment later so we'll see what happens. ?The thing is that I was discharged from the hospital like this. ?Dr. didn't seem too concerned but it really makes me nervous. ?Uhhhg I hope I can keep her in!! ?I even asked the Dr. if I should hang upside down, LOL! ?

BabyH2010- how long have you felt the pressure??

  • I've had it on and off... maybe for the past month? I know the day before I was admitted to the hospital I was REALLY feeling the pressure but it was combined with some serious swelling those few days... I can't really help, especially since our bedrest reasons are different (mine is PIH and borderline Pre-E). Good luck - hopefully it's just the normal pregnancy aches & pains!
  • Yes! It's gotten worse over the past 2 weeks (been on BR since 25w) to the point that I went to L&D last night and got the steroid shot for her lungs because my dr is pretty certain she's coming SOON. I hold my tummy too when I walk and really just hate getting out of bed.

  • I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that has pelvic pressure.  I usually have it for about an hour and then it goes away.

  • Mine seems to go and come, but I first noticed it around 25 weeks, just days before my water started leaking, which I don't think has anything to do with the other, and it is still there from time to time, mainly just when walking, which I don' t get to do very often.

I know she is head down near the "exit" as I call it since I've been in the hospital at 25W6D, so I'm sure that's part of it.
