We are also thinking about a minivan.  We've talked to my brother about it (he's THE expert on cars, he writes for various automotive websites, and knows every last detail you could ever want to know).  Anyway, he hands down recs the Oddessy.  He says to avoid the Sienna b/c Toyota has been taking many shortcuts in the last 10 years and he wouldn't trust one like the Honda.  He said (it may be too late now) that there were some really great deals on the 09 Kia vans (can't remember their names) with 10 year warranties and they got good ratings as well.

Re: Artslvr

  • Thank you!  Yes, people are recommending the Odessys (Oddyssy?  Odessees?  I think I've spelled it ten different ways in posts lately!) left and right.  No wonder why you see so many on the road.

But yeah, the Kia Sedona is cheaper, and seems to also have great ratings.  Less on resale than the Honda, but truly, we expect to run whatever we get into the ground - I'm not looking to sell it any time soon.

We're looking into the USAA car buying service right now - they can get some seriously good deals (but at times higher interest rate on the loan, so still sussing this out).

    Thanks for thinking of me!!!!
