dumb spit-up/vomit question

what is the difference between the two?

Lately A has been "spitting up" every morning about 1.5 hours after her morning nursing session.  Personally, I'm not that worried about it but DH saw it this morning and was all, "A just threw up!".  Clearly, we view this topic differently.

Re: dumb spit-up/vomit question

  • Spit up doesn't make noise or go very far Stick out tongue In our experience, vomiting had a sound (you know the one) and it went everywhere. There was no mistaking that he'd thrown up instead of spitting up.

this. you will KNOW when your baby is throwing up. it's more exorcist looking than just milk coming out of his/her mouth.

  • If you're wondering which it is, then it's spit-up. I used to wonder too, until DD had her first true vomiting episode. Then I wondered no longer. Tongue Tied
  • I dunno, but reading this post makes me wanna spit up...err, I mean vomit!  Ick!

Yep.  Plus, the vomiting was accompanied by coughing and crying.
