It is hard to get a perspective of HFWB as a patient since I am a nurse there. I am glad to hear you say such positive things about it. I just saw your other post about your doc and CNM. Do you see them at the hospital? it is closer and more convenient to me, I am just nervous about making any kind of decision. I am really only interested in working with a midwife and I want it to be a really personal and friendly experience.

Does WB offer support classes for expectant parents/new parents? I am swayed by St Joes for the reason alone right now... they seem to offer SO much... but I am thinking that maybe other places just dont advertise on their websites as much.

  • Yes I see them at the hospital. Jennifer Schuman just had her baby but should be back soon. I found it to be a very personal experience when I would meet with her. They do offer a variety of parenting classes. Right now my husband and I are taking a birthing class. I may also take the 1st aid/cpr class. There are quite a few others offered including a breastfeeding class. The lactation consultant is teaching the birthing class I am in and she seems to be very fond of the natural way which I found very comforting. We have done a lot of work on breathing, massage therapy, and the use of a birthing ball. The CNM seem to allow a lot of "freedom" during labor which I like. They emphasize how important it is to stay mobile and active. Of course you have to decide what is right for you and what you feel comfortable with but I would encourage you to explore your options at HFWB further. please feel free to contact me if you want to talk about this further or have anymore questions. Good luck and congratulations!
