Babies: 9 - 12 Months

what do you do when your LO kicks socks off?

DD will not keep socks on for anything. I've tried several different kinds, including the stay put ones with the velcro. I also tried putting shoes on over them, but she kicks the shoes off. I've resolved to just leave her feet bare, which doesn't bother me, but everywhere I go someone tells me her feet are cold and I need to put socks on her. I'm SO tired of having that conversation. Strangers come up to me in the grocery store - especially older people.

I'm thinking of getting her a onesie that says "I don't like socks. I kick them off. Please leave my mom alone about it."

  • We got the Target brand robeez (sp) shoes.  They keep his socks on.

  • Can I have one of those onsies, too, please? I haven't figured out how to keep him in socks OR shoes. And  he'll be walking soon. Oy.
  • My daughter doesn't, but if she does, I'd be inclined to leave them off.

I hate socks.  Hate. Hate. Hate socks.  I'd be barefoot all the time if I thought it was even marginally safe or socially acceptable.  So, I'm totally projecting, but I'd leave them off.  Maybe I'd put a blanket over her feet if we were out just to avoid comments.

  • On the bright side, summer is right around the corner and you won't need socks for few months :)

    (no advice, sorry!)

  • What kid of shoes have you tried? We have a pair of Stride rites & there is no way they are coming off
  • Im a huge fan of soft cotton tights! They eliminate the problem and are comfy and cute under onesies!

  • When she pulls them off and chews on them (as she ALWAYS does) I end up just putting them in my pocket. If anybody asks, I give them the exhausted-mother-of-puppies glare and show them the socks. No words necessary.

    Just let him go barefoot.
