Hi girls - I've had my eye on the Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor for a while now and I think I may be ready to go ahead and purchase one. Anybody have any comments/ reviews / suggestions?
I use it and absolutely love it. It's expensive, but to me it was well worth the investment! I still temp though just to confirm O. That's just my opinion though
TTC #1 since October 2008
March 2010--initial b/w and SA - normal
What's next
May 2010 - HSG, SHG
June 2010 - IUI #1
I have mixed feelings about it. I have pretty regular 27-29 day cycles and the monitor just confirms what I see on the OPKs ('peak' on monitor usually happens same day or the morning following my first positive OPK). It makes me feel better that I have 2 tools agreeing on when I *should* be ovulating but knowing what I do now, I probably wouldn't spend the money on it - especially considering if you need to buy an extra package of test sticks they are about $50.
Just ordered mine not long ago and although it does cost $$$ I don't think its going to be too bad.
Given that you have normal cycles you should only have to use 10 sticks per month and 30 come in a box. As for purchasing the sticks, they are 36.99 on Amazon and usually run about 25 bucks or so on ebay...

This is a good point that I failed to mention - it was really great for me when I was having cycles that were in the 50+ days -- it really helped. Now that my RE has informed me of my thyroid issues and I've been on medicine for a month, my cycles do seem to be returning to "normal"
You can order a three months supply of test sticks on Amazon for about $30.

I was thankful I used it the first cycle as I o'd really really late (I was sick). i would have thought something was wrong, but I did get a peak and temps confirmed I O'd.
This month, I got no peak readings, but I did get a positive OPK, so I'm not sure what to think yet.
I liked it (but I might like it better because I got mine from a friend, so I only have to buy sticks). But if you have an annovulatory cycle or late one, you use a LOT of sticks. But honestly, OPK's cost a lot too anyway, so I just use the monitor. I was even thinking of just doing the monitor and giving up temping, but I don't have the guts yet.
I bought mine used, I would definitely recommend shopping around for it. I don't think paying full price for a new one is necessary. Also like someone said amazon is the best place to buy the sticks. I like using mine, but I still temp most cycles. I had one cycle where I got a peak but never ovulated so getting a peak doesn't necessarily mean you will O. I never tried opk's, but I like just peeing on a stick once in the morning and not having to worry about it during the day. After this many cycles I've gotten pretty good at knowing when I'm about to O, so I don't really need to use it anymore but I still do. GL
I just started using one a couple of cycles ago. I am borrowing a friends, so I didn't have the high initial outlay. The sticks aren't bad (they cost less than digital OPKs).
The two things I like most about the CBEFM are (1) you use FMU; and (2) I get peaks. I never got a positive OPK.
I still chart to confirm O, but it is nice to have a heads up. My cycles are fairly consistent (26-30 days). My O day has been between CD 15 and 18.
