D.C. Area Babies

embarrassed...

Warner's birthday is this coming Saturday and I went by Party City this morning to pick up party hats and a little banner for him. (We're not having a real party, just a small family get together, but I still want it to be kind of festive for him Smile)

And I actually started crying when I was looking at all the "1st birthday" stuff. For real--tears, stifled sobs...I felt dumb. I don't really cry and definitely not in public. But it just hit me like a ton of bricks that my baby is not actually a baby anymore. I tried to keep it together while checking out, but I'm sure that the cashier thought I was mental.

Good god. Embarrassed

Re: embarrassed...

  • Awwww! I can totally relate! Where did the last year go??

I totally teared up yesterday before the party. I think it is normal (well, at least for the two of us).

  • Just reading your post gives me the shivers...I think I will be in your shoes in 7 months.  I am dreading the first tooth - to me that means he is more a little boy than a baby...

  • I did too for Maggie but it turned out I was pregnant again so I like to blame the hormones Wink  The family can;t all make it until May1st for Molly so I have a little while to pretend she isn't turning one so soon.
  • I am right there with you. I have started making plans for DD's birthday in June and it makes me teary-eyed just thinking about it. I'm working on a DVD slideshow and when I look at all the old photos and videos, I think, where has the time gone.

Well, happy almost 1 birthday Warner! Also, what a cute siggy.

  • I'm right there with you.  My baby is turning 2 on Wed.  She isn't even a baby anymore, but this little person that is talking, singing, counting, etc.  I get teary eyed thinking about it.

  • I was so much worse than that. I cried every night for TWO WEEKS before DD's 1st birthday. I would go to put her to bed and just sit in the dark nursing and crying. It was pathetic. I had to have DH put her to bed for a few weeks after I weaned her and it finally broke my "my baby isn't a baby anymore" crying sessions. It was much easier with DS and DD's last two birthdays have been easier. I think I just adjusted to how quickly the time goes once you have kids!

  • I think it's totally normal!

I cried the 1st time I read "I'm a big sister" to DD (but I'll blame that on pregnancy hormones).

I can't believe all the b-days this month (incl. mine, already passed), I swear I know more people w/ March b-days than any other month!

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I had to go back to Labor and Delivery yesterday for a Rhogam injection.  I started getting teary eyed in the waiting room, thinking about the last time I was there and how my "baby" is now a little boy.

It isn't fair how quickly it all goes by!

  • awwww, that's sweet! on tomas' first birthday, i'd planned to be home wtih him, nursing and cuddling at the moment he was born. instead, i was running behind schedule and found myself struggling to get out of the underground parkign lot at my local harris teeter while tomas was wailing in the backseat. i collapsed in sobs so emotionally, that tomas actually stopped crying to see what was wrong with me!

  • It gets even better with age... my daughter has turned into quite the ham. And she even manages to crack me up when she's sassing me :)

I can commisserate, but only for a fleeting second... you'll see it with Warner soon enough ;-)

  • Yup, I had a "he's getting so big" wail this weekend - starting solids, outgrowing the swing, rolling over both ways, Ferber - it was a lot of new stuff with bebe at once.

  • Awww I have those moments at least once a day lately.  Sometimes I just can't believe how big Xander is getting.  This time goes by way too quickly.
