If you pay $20 to join REI's Co-op, you get a dividend each year that is usually equal to 10% of your purchases at REI in the previous year. You can use it to buy stuff at REI or request a check.

ETA - The $20 is a one time fee for a lifetime membership, so it can pay for itself pretty quickly.

Oh okay.  I got one those cards too and I don't think I remember them mentioning anything to me.  I learn something new everyday.  Ha.

i did the same thing!!  its been one of the best purchases...we use it almost everyday!
