Alex broke the big 2-0.

Alex went to the pedi today for what I thought might be an ear infection (pedi thinks it's just a bad cold right now). They weighed him in his diaper, onesie and shorts, and he tipped the scales at 20 pounds 8 ounces!

For those keeping track, he JUST had his 4 month well baby visit on the 11th, and he was 19 pounds, 6.5 ounces in his diaper. 

In other words, he's enormous and getting bigger by the day. At this rate, he will easily top 30 pounds by his first birthday. Meredith, who stays around the 80th percentile for height and weight, is 2 months away from her 4th birthday and weighs 38 pounds. It's going to take Alex a long time to catch up to Meredith in height, but he's going to get close to her in weight within the next year or so, I think. That blows my mind.

Daaaaaaang, he is a big boy!

FWIW, I'm pretty sure that Leo was around there by 4 months (I look back at his baby pics and just laugh and laugh at all of his adorable rolls), but he basically stopped gaining weight as soon as he got mobile. I think he was 25 by 7 or 8 months and now he's like 27.

OMG!  The boys are just now about 21 pounds and are a little under 2 weeks away from being 1.  Wowza.

I am so sorry for your back.    And possibly your hips.

Yeah, your son officially weighs more than my almost-one-year old.    He is awesome!!!!!

BTW, my brother has a son like this - at all of his appts he was so far off the charts they had to compare him to kids 2 yrs more than his age.  He is currently 2 yrs old wearing size 5 clothes.  And he weighs more than his older sister (who is 5 years old).    Some kids are just built like linebackers.   

How tall is your husband?  How tall are you?

My brother is 6ft2in, SIL is 6ft - thus the reason their kids are giants.

I'm 5'5". DH is just over 6' tall, but he's not stocky. The pedi has met both of us and said at Alex's 4 month appointment that we are NOT the sort of couple he'd expect to produce a baby Alex's size.

However, I have uncles on both sides of my family who are about 6'5", and my maternal grandfather was a boxer and pro football player way back in the day. Alex is built very similarly to him.
