Pineapple for baby

I didn't realize this was a no-no until after 1 year, but I just found it on wholesomebabyfood.com.  T really likes it!

Re: Pineapple for baby

  • Honestly, once they start approaching a year and they don't have sensitive skin or diaper rash I think you can give them a little bit.  I think a lot of it has to do with it being acidic and irritating their diaper area.  We give LO a little bit of tomato which is very acidic.

  • Stage 2 foods have pineapple in them (Hawaiian Delight & Pineapple Pear). Jackson LOVES them!
  • Uh-oh.  DS loves pineapple.  He didn't break out so I guess we're in the clear.
  • I have been giving my little guy pineapple for a few weeks now I didn't know it was a no until 1???  There are stage 2 baby foods with pineapple so I'm not really worried.
  • DD had an Anaphylaxic reaction to pineapple (we think it was the pineapple anyway, waiting for blood tests) and ended up being rushed to the ER and had to stay overnight so I am VERY leary about pineapple now. Clearly DD will not be getting any until she is way older if she isn't allergic. She had the pineapple/pear baby food. It was the scariest day of my life.

If you have been giving it to him for a few weeks I am pretty sure it's safe. Although, allergies usually occur after repeat exposure so just be careful. See my post about this if you are interested.
