Upstate NY Babies

where did you register?

Since DH and I aren't finding out the sex, and my bday is being celebrated the end of may with family, I'm going to register next month...But I wanted to get an idea of where you registered, if you liked them, were they easy to work with?

in all honesty, i'm trying to avoid babies R'us.

Re: where did you register?

  • Well around here, BRU is/was really the ONLY option. target is OK, but their selection is pretty limited.. and there is stuff you just can't get there..  If we had a nearby Buy Buy Baby I would have registered there instead of BRU though. We also had an online registry on Amazon, with mostly our bigger items (they had an exclusive graco print that I wanted) but the only people who ordered from it were our parents and one friend.

  • I registered at BRU and Buy Buy Baby.  I really liked Buy Buy Baby for registering.  They were very easy to deal with and returning was easy even without a receipt.  As long as the item is on your registery and shown as purchased they will give you store credit.  BRU will not let you return items without a gift receipt  at least.

  • Target and BRU.  Target was easy for pretty much anyone that was looking at our registeries, but BRU had better stuff and a better return policy.  We don't have a Buy Buy Baby yet (I hear one is coming soon) otherwise I probably would have gone there.

  • Babies R Us for most and a small one at Target. I was happy w/ both, even though I've heard horror stories of Target registries. (My BFF works there, and won't even use them for her wedding registry!)

A word of warning... you might not want to register too early. When is your shower? A lot of items/patterns get discontinued fast in baby stuff. Right now all the spring/summer is out, and by the time your shower comes around they will probably coming out w/ new fall patterns.

  • Other than BRU we registered at Burlington Coat Factory (Baby Depot).  They have a big selection of stuff and their prices are more reasonable than BRU.  I haven't had to deal with their return policy though so I can't speak to that.  I think I did all of my registering there online because I didn't register for a lot b/c of BRU.  It was really easy.

And I agree with NikCole.  Don't register too early.  All of our big ticket items (stroller, car seat, PNP) were new designs so we didn't have a problem, but there were a few things that I got e-mails about due to them being discontinued.  My shower was January 30th and I registered in the beginning/middle of December (around 22-24 weeks along).

    I agree with this too...

but I reg'd at BRU and amazon- and it was pretty split down the middle where people purchased from...

  • PBK and BRU...both were great
  • We registered at BRU and for the cloth diaper service.  I was and have been very happy with BRU return policy/customer service.  I would have loved to register at BBB, but since there is not one in Syracuse, I was not sure if people would be annoyed having to buy a bunch of stuff online (I do not mind, but a lot of the women who came to my shower are older).

  • I just did BRU-I heard too many horror stories about Target and most of Targets baby stuff is online-only which to me is a pain. BBB opened up like a month before my shower, but since I had 2 showers and BBB was only in 1 of the 2 cities, I didn't bother going there. I've had no problems with BRU and have even returned things without a receipt without issue.
  • BRU and bbB.....bbB was so easy and returns were a breeze! BRU put a freeze on me because I returned too much...I have no idea what the cut off is, but I didn't really have that many returns! I even had receipts, whatever!
