how do you prepare formula for daycare/sitters?

I go back to work next Monday and we are supplementing LO during the day at the sitters with formula.  How do you prepare it for them?

-fill bottles with your own filtered water & put formula in small tupperware containers?  -give premade formula in a cooler and have them refridgerate it asap?  -give the whole container of formula to sitter each day for them to prepare and then take home each night?

any advice on what is easiest is helpful!!

  • When she stays the night with my parents, we just send a whole can of formula with them, but most of the time, they already have one. The use filtered water out of their fridge.

  • At our daycare we have to send each bottle already prepared. So the night before I make 20oz and pour 5oz in 4 bottles and put them in a lunch bag and then in the fridge. The when I drop her off I put the bottles in the fridge in her classroom.

We don't do daycare or a sitter, but we have a pitcher that we premake formula in every day (using filtered fridge water) & just fill up bottles as needed & warm in the bottle warmer.  For going around town outings, I keep a case of 8oz Similac premade bottles in my trunk (Charles will eat 8oz in one sitting).

  • I fill 4 bottles with 5oz of our formula water. Then I send a can of formula that stays there until empty. They prefer it that way so they can make them as needed and they don't have to refridgerate so many bottles.

  • You should check with your daycare/sitter and see which way they want. My LO started daycare today at a large center and they have a certain policy and/or law they have to follow that says they can not measure the formula themselves.

The director had told me I had to send in all bottles pre-made but when I met with the head teacher last friday she said I have a few options they do not have to be pre-made they can just not measure. I can fill the bottles with water pre measured and send in a travel formula keeper that has each serving seperate, I can put the formula in the bottle and they can add the water, or I can send pre-made.

I choose the same way we do it at home. When I clean the bottle I put the water & liner in right away. Then when its time to feed I just scoop in the formula. So for daycare I just purchased a couple extra travel formula containers and that way I just grab the bottles the night before and pack the bag.

    Sorry if this was wordy!
