Okay so I had an IUI 3/15 and I always test out my trigger. Last month I was using really crappy tests so they went BFN after about 3 days. After that, I bought some better tests and those were the ones that gave me by BFP at 12 DPO that I ended up m/c. So those are the tests I started using to test out my trigger this month.
Well, 6 days after triggering, the sons of bit*hes were STILL BFP! It was driving me crazy! Then I ran out of tests and ran out and bought some New Choice Dollar Tree tests because I'd heard good things about them and they were cheaper. I took it that same day. It was BFP but BARELY so I was excited HCG was on it's way out the door. The next day, I took the same Dollar Tree test and it was totally BFN. "Hooray!" I thought!
So this morning half asleep I grabbed a test out of my "TTC box" (you should see this box, you'd die. Syringes, needles, alcohol swabs, boxes of HPTS, Femara RX bottles, Prenatals, Metformin, Calcium supps - I think that's it) ANYWAY...I grabbed a test out of my TTC box only to realize it's one of my old tests, not the dollar tree kind but the kind I was using before them. I thought whatever, this will do.
So I peed on it and God help me it was BFP! Now not all crazy BFP but there was no denying that faint line although faint, existed! I also used the same urine with a dollar tree test (I never pee on a stick, I always pee in a cup and dip the stick because it's the only way I can do it without making a huge mess) and it was 100% BFN.
So now, I am left with this totally irrational thought that I know is dumb but I can't get rid of.
#1) Obviously, my previous brand is more senstive than dollar store brand so now I won't ever be able to use the dollar store brand and feel 100% like I can rely on that since on the same day with the same urine I got a BFN out of it when I was getting a BFP out of my other tests.
#2) If at 7 DPO I am still getting a BFP and it's possible to get a BFP at as early as 10 DPO (and even 9 DPO sometimes) I am terrified it will never go BFN and I will not be able to depend on my BFP (should I get one) at 10 or even 12 DPO.
Now the line is much fainter than when I first started testing out my trigger BUT I worry that if I am indeed pregnant, there is a very small chance that the HCG never fully left my system before I started creating my own HCG due to the pregnany.
This test pickled up a 9.8 beta last month so I know it's super sensitive and 9.8 beta at 7 DPO is not out of the realm of possibility. If this stupid test never goes BFN, I WILL NEVER KNOW IF IT'S MY HCG OR MEDS! I hate this! Why does this all have to be sooooooo hard!? Can someone please help calm my totally irrational fears?
Re: Testing out trigger
I would never test that early either if I was really trying to get a BFP. I was looking for exactly the opposite. This is technically ny 3rd IUI and I always test out my trigger so that when (if) I get my BFP I'll know it's for real and not just leftover meds. It's never lasted this long before! It's normally gone in 4 days tops. This is just so bizarre.
Anyway, I have decided the only way I am going to get any peace is to ignore testing all together until 12 DPO (Sat.)
I have my fx for your beta! The wait is so hard isn't it?
The waiting sucks and if you add all my phantom symptoms from the progesterone, but it's all a waiting game, either waiting to O or waiting to test.
Hey:
I'm also 7DP IUI (I had it on the 15th, like you). I tested this morning on an internet cheapie to see if the HCG was still there, and there was a barely perceptible BFP. My last IUI, the HCG was long gone by now, so I don't know what is up. Trying not to get my hopes up too much. I'll probably start "officially" testing this Friday (11 DPO).
Good luck!!
Hey, Kerry! Glad to see someone feels my pain! LOL I got a false neg. on internet cheapies last month so I try to stay away from them but if you're still getting a BFP than yours seem okay!
I am so glad we're on the same day. I am going to tryyyyyyyyy not to test until Saturday but I have a feeling I may cave on Thursday or Friday.
Are you going to keep testing out your trigger or are you gonna back off until Friday?
Kerry, I couldn't resist either. This is the verdict:
Dollar Tree - BFN
Clearblue Easy Digital - BFN
Walmart - BFP (although the line was faint it WAS there)
CVS - BFP (although the line was faint it WAS there)
I have a very hard time believing a 5,000 dose would still be in my system 11 days post trigger. Every website I can get my hands on says it's safe to test 10 days after a 5,000 dose and today is 11 days so I lean toward my BFN's not being false positives but who can know for sure? I have NO CHOICE but to wait until Saturday to be able to rely on the results.
