I just don't get it. Am I missing something? Why make your children's name more difficult for people to spell and pronounce? I just don't understand the point.
my name has a "weird" spelling...but it is actually spelled the traditional dutch way....so while things may seem weird here...they may not in other places...
HOWEVER...i do agree for people that just make up new spellings for no reason
Because they don't want their child to have a "weird" name, just a "unique" one. They don't mind if their child is one of 5 in their homeroom with a name pronounced the same, just as long as they're the only one who spells "Emily" as "Emmaleigh" or "Aiden" as "Aaiydenn".
Which works really well on the soccer field, with all those parents yelling out "Shoot it, Emilee with two E's!"

*lol* there is a girl in my daughter's class who has that exact spelling of a name...which I think its too many ee's....but really I shouldn't talk..my daughter's name is AINSLEE ...which I changed the spelling on...it was my great grandfather's name and was spelled AINSLIE...
